Video BTT_digital Session: “Im/material Theatre Spaces”

The project managers Franziska Ritter and Pablo Dornhege present the project “Im/material Theatre Spaces” as an online session from the ditigal.DTHG lab after one year of project duration. At the BTT 2020 Bühnentechnische Tagung, the most important trade fair and further education event of the theater and event technology branch of the Deutsche Theatertechnische Gesellschaft (DTHG), we gave a first insight into our projects online on October 28 & 29, 2020.

digital.DTHG is the new area of competence of the Deutsche Theatertechnische Gesellschaft: It investigates the potential of digital technologies such as VR and AR for the theater and event industry in Germany. In practical and application-oriented research projects, basic approaches to solutions are conceived together with cooperation partners and tested as sustainable transferable model solutions. The spectrum covers the three disciplines of theater technology, theater architecture and stage design: How can Augmented Reality be used to ensure compliance with safety industry standards? How can stage sets be designed virtually and how can new digital design and planning processes be established in current theater operations? How can the future renovation process of a theater building be discussed transparently with the public? How can im/material cultural heritage be made more accessible to a broad public? In the lecture, the project managers Franziska Ritter and Pablo Dornhege will provide insights into the project and show first prototypical sample solutions as an interim status after one year of project duration. This project is funded by the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media.
