Video BTT_digital Session: “Virtual Stage Rehearsal”

After one year of project duration, the project managers Franziska Ritter and Pablo Dornhege present interim results of the project “Virtual Stage Rehearsal” at the Bühnentechnische Tagung.

At the BTT 2020 Bühnentechnische Tagung, the most important trade fair and further education event of the theater and event technology branch of the Deutsche Theatertechnische Gesellschaft (DTHG), we gave a first insight into our projects online on October 28 & 29, 2020.

Guests: Robert Rott (tjg. Dresden), Alexander Segin (Konzerthaus Berlin) und Johannes Fried.

This project investigates the use of existing applications as a tool for conducting virtual rehearsals – i.e. rehearsals that do not take place physically in the theater and on stage, but can take place in virtual space and independent of location. With the workshop “How to go Virtual” we have developed a format that gives theaters and venues the chance to get in touch with virtual reality in an uncomplicated way and to test possible applications. In addition to theoretical parts, the focus is on practical experience, both in trying out existing applications and programs and in actually running through own usage scenarios.
Workflows are tested together: for example, the adaptation of a stage design to another venue, the presentation of construction variants or the visualization of a spatially particularly complicated design. The workshop teaches how the technology can be integrated into one’s own work process as a visualization, design, construction and communication medium.
