Beyond the 4th wall: Franziska Ritter speaks at Immersive Tech Week

Franziska Ritter will be discussing stage and set design in virtual space at the IMMERSIVE TECH WEEK in Rotterdam on 1 December 2023. One of the questions will be to what extent virtual stage design practices facilitate the theatre process and help to develop a more sustainable ecosystem for theatres and other cultural institutions. Anne Maike Mertens, member of the Dutch artist collective Nineties, and Kalle Rasinkangas, XR & 3D specialist at the Finnish National Opera and Ballet, will be on the panel.

Titel: Beyond the 4th wall
Inhalt : When we think about theatre, we imagine large auditoriums, red curtains and factual set design. But how do we transform these magical experiences into any kind of virtual environment? How do we play with dimensions, with scale, with viewer orientation? And how do we use the myriads of possibilities which are unattainable in the physical world? Also, in which ways can virtual stage design facilitate the theatrical process and help to develop a more sustainable ecosystem for theatres and other cultural institutions? We will speak with the leading experts in this field, working both on and beyond the stage…
